Once the pot has been removed, inspect the root ball. If there are any dead roots, cut them off and loosen the rest of the matted root ball. Removes as much of the old, tired compost as possible and rinse the root ball well in water to wash off all the accumulated nutrient salts.
Choose a slightly larger pot to repot the plant in and put sufficient Potting Substrate in the bottom to bring the plant to the right level. Top up with Potting Substrate and firm around the root ball with your fingers. Soak the potting compost and keep the plant in the shade for the first couple of days after repotting.
At the same time as you repot the plant, it is possible to give it the food it needs for the next year. This can be done quite simply by putting a Pindstrup Ferti-Cote food sachet in the potting compost.
The fertilizer is released slowly over 8-9 months, so the plants will not need anything apart from water for the rest of the year.
