Garden tubs that pretty much look after themselves are the solution if you don't fancy watering your flowers whenever the sun shines. The Maxiflex Tub with the Pindstrup Maxikap and Growing Bag inside only has to be watered about once a month, so the benefits are plain to see.

Maxiflex tubs are also very decorative – you can even paint them to match your colour scheme.

Movable summer flowers

The Maxiflex Tub can be assembled in a matter of minutes – just slot the pieces of wood together.

It can be positioned wherever you want it and is easy to move.

Put the Maxikap and Growing Bag inside and you have a beautiful, self-watering garden tub.

Location
There are lots of good places for Maxiflex tubs around the house – by the front door, on the patio, etc. Under the eaves, where the soil is dry, is a good place. A row of Maxiflex tubs here will make a nice feature and give your plants optimum growing conditions.

Fill the tubs with seasonal flowering plants for year-round colour.

Planting

Make sure to water the plants well before putting them in the Growing Bag. Plant annuals approx. 15 cm apart for dense, luxuriant growth. It is easy to make space in the Growing Bag for each plant and firm the compost around the roots.

If you like, you can also take the top tier of wood off to reduce the height of the tub. This will allow the flowers to trail over the sides of the Maxiflex Tub more easily

Cold frame
Early in the season you can easily use the Maxiflex Tub as an effective cold frame for propagating lots of young flower and vegetable plants.

Sow several types of lettuce, cauliflower, spring cabbage, broccoli and various annuals, for example. Sow the seeds in the growing bag and then cover the Maxiflex Tub with clear plastic.

The greenhouse climate under the plastic will make the seeds germinate quickly and give the young plants good growing conditions.

Maxiflex Trellis
The Maxiflex Tub can be fitted with a trellis for climbing plants.

A Maxiflex Tub with trellis, or perhaps several tubs in a row, will provide excellent shelter for a seating or dining area.

Pindstrup Greenhouse Fertiliser 4-1-6
Use liquid Greenhouse Fertiliser 4-1-6, which has the right balance of nitrogen and potassium for good flower and fruit development, to feed your tubs. It also contains all the necessary micronutrients, including iron, manganese, boron, etc.

Create your own convent garden

It is easy to grow vegetables and herbs in Maxiflex tubs. You can stand them on their own or combine several to create a mini kitchen garden.

Mini kitchen garden

You can grow your own crops of all sorts of fresh vegetables in just a few square metres. In this "mini kitchen garden" it is easy both to look after the vegetables and to harvest the ones you want to use.

There are all sorts of herbs that provide both scent and flavour – in addition to which they are often attractive and exciting plants. If you plant them in your Maxiflex Tub just by the back door and on the patio, it is easy to pick a bunch of parsley, a sprinkling of chives or a bouquet for the soup pot.

In Maxiflex tubs you can have lots of vegetables in just a few square metres, and they are easy to look after and harvest when needed.

Lettuce, beans, peas, squash, celery, tomatoes and all sorts of other vegetables give a high yield.

Seeds and cuttings
Many herbs can be grown in the Growing Bag straight from seed. Some plants, such as dill and coriander, should be sown in several batches so that you always have fresh, green shoots. Other herbs are easy to propagate from cuttings, i.e. small shoots cut from a plant that will form roots when poked into the Growing Bag.

The Maxiflex Tub can be covered with clear plastic during germination or rooting to create a small cold frame.

Finally, you can buy commercially grown plants in pots and plant them out in the Maxiflex tub.
