The principle of modern lawn care is that the grass should largely cope with the battle against weeds and moss itself.
A healthy lawn with a dense growth of grass makes it difficult for weeds and moss to become established.
Top-dressing annually with a thin layer of Lawn Dressing is important.

Preparing for the top-dressing
Start by cutting the grass so that it is 2-3 cm long.
Then scarify the lawn with a mechanical or powered scarifier, or rake thoroughly. Collect the loose grass/plant material and put it on the compost heap.

|
Now you are ready to top-dress with Pindstrup Lawn Dressing.
|
 |
To obtain even coverage, spread the Lawn Dressing in small batches.
Pour 10 litres of the Lawn Dressing into a bucket and spread evenly over 10 m2 by hand.
|
 |
Work the mixture into the grass well using the back of the rake. Water the lawn thoroughly with a sprinkler to establish good contact between the Lawn Dressing and the grass roots.
|
|
Feeding
Feed the lawn 2-3 weeks later. The type and quantity of feed required depends on whether the soil is sandy or clayey, the nutrient content of the soil, etc.
The following quantities are recommended annually per 100 m2:
Light soil: 5-8 kg of NPK 12-5-14. Heavy soil: 3-4 kg of NPK 23-3-7
The lawn feed should be applied in four instalments in May, June, August and September.
|
Reseeding
If the lawn has worn thin or there are bare patches for other reasons, new grass will have to be sown.
It is a good idea to combine reseeding with top-dressing with Lawn Dressing. As a rule of thumb, use 10 litres of Lawn Dressing and approx. 25 g of seed per m2.
|
Height of cut
A low cut makes the grass sensitive to drought and a lack of nutrients, whereas long grass is more resistant to stress.
Grass does best with a height of cut of 3.0-3.5 cm.
This provides both good competitiveness in relation to weeds/moss and greater resistance to disease.

Liming
Soil becomes more acid over time. This is because its lime content is washed out by rain.
Lime needs to be added, and the easiest way to do this is with Pindstrup Lime Granules.
Pindstrup Lime Granules are dustless and the pearls are easy to spread. For maintenance purposes you should apply 25 kg of Lime Granules per 300 m2 a year.
