Pindstrup Substrate No 1:

For potting, seeding and cuttings.
0-20 or 0-35 mm blonde sphagnum peat.
Low fertilizer level - pH 6.0 or 5.5
Pindstrup Substrate No 2:

For Pot plants.
0-20 or 0-35 mm blonde sphagnum peat with granulated clay.
Medium fertilizer level - pH 6.0 or 5.5

For Pot plants.
5-20 or 10-30 mm blonde sphagnum peat with granulated clay.
Medium fertilizer level - pH 6.0 or 5.5

Seeding in plug trays.
0-10 mm blonde / dark sphagnum peat.
Medium fertilizer level - pH 6.0 or 5.5
Pindstrup Sphagnum peat moss:

blonde sphagnum peat moss, produced from sods. Many screenings - pH 4.0

Special substrates

To optimize the growth results special circumstances can make it worthwhile to make special substrates in addition to the standard program.
The need for special substrates is determined by different factors :

The plants may have special needs
e.g. low salt tolerance, lower pH (acidophile plants), sensitivity to overwatering, etc.

Problems with the irrigation water
Alkalinity or salinity causing problems during the culture period.

Ebb/flood watering
makes heavy demands on the drainage capacity and air filled porosity of the substrate.

Long culture period
which demands an extra durable structure.

Container Nursery Stock
outdoor cultures require a product which is easy to water and with a structure which reduces the overwatering risk.

The special substrates are formulated according to the requirements of the nursery making allowance for the local conditions. The following may be changed:

Degree of humification (dark/blonde peat)
Screening
pH

Amount and composition of fertilizers
Additives such as: Clay granules, sand (grit), perlite

Each special substrate is given a recipe number which follows the order and is printed on the bags. When reordering by recipe number you are sure to get the right product.
